ASTM E1996: Standard Specification for Performance of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, Doors, and Impact Protective Systems Impacted by Windborne Debris in Hurricanes
Standard: ASTM E1996 – Standard Specification for Performance of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, Doors, and Impact Protective Systems Impacted by Windborne Debris in Hurricanes
Scope: This specification covers exterior windows, glazed curtain walls, doors, and impact protective systems used in buildings located in geographic regions that are prone to hurricanes
Applicable Products: This specification covers exterior windows, glazed curtain walls, doors, and impact protective systems
Test Procedure: This standard specification defines the missile levels size and impact speed, missile level for wind zones, cyclic static air pressure loading table as well as substitution criteria for exterior windows, curtain walls, doors, and impact protective systems.
End Result: Upon the completion of a successful test, the product meets the performance criteria for hurricane impact and cyclic static pressure tests or, does not meet criteria and further remediation may be required to pass.
