Jeffrey W. Card, Ph.D., Director, Toxicology & Risk Assessment
Dr. Jeffrey Card joined the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Group at Intertek in 2007. Dr. Card serves as the head of the group’s risk assessment team which has conducted over 800 projects since 2014 to address safety issues related to medical device and drug product extractables/leachables, impurities, degradants, excipients, contaminants, and cross-contamination of active ingredients, including derivation of health-based exposure limits.
After receiving his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Queen’s University, Dr. Card spent 4 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) in Research Triangle Park, NC.
He has over 10 years of research experience in academic and government laboratories, has authored over 35 peer-reviewed articles in the fields of toxicology, physiology, carcinogenesis, and nanotechnology and has given presentations at local, national, and international scientific meetings.
His academic and research excellence have been recognized in the form of travel, scholarship, and fellowship awards from the Davies Charitable Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Society of Toxicology (SOT), the American Lung Association of North Carolina, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Card is a member of SOT and the Society of Toxicology of Canada.
