Sandra Dowlat is a Scientific and Regulatory Consultant and has been with Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy since 2007. Working with numerous clients, Ms. Dowlat’s primary focus and role include the preparation of New Substance
Notifications and support with the Canadian Chemical Management (CM) initiatives including the Challenge to Industry and the DSL Inventory Update under the Chemicals Management Plan.
Ms. Dowlat provides regulatory and scientific advice to clients to promote compliance with the New Substances Notification Regulations (NSNR) under the
Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA), the Australian National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS), and other similar initiatives around the world including the Philippines. By analyzing and interpreting the requirements of these regulations, Ms. Dowlat effectively responds to her client’s needs and has assisted in the submission of many Notifications. In this context, Ms. Dowlat gathers, interprets, and delivers the necessary compositional information, toxicological data, physical-chemical properties and product-support information.
Additionally, in Ms. Dowlat’s role assisting with CM-initiatives, her clients rely on her to help them understand and effectively comply with government Notices and voluntary surveys for the management of many different chemicals. Her knowledge of the regulations and ability to critically evaluate the available data and exposure scenarios allows her to pro-actively develop risk-hazard profiles and advise clients on possible risk management measures and collaborate with government regulators to deliver successful outcomes.
Within Intertek Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy, Ms. Dowlat also plays a major role in the management of a special project team whose tasks involve the preparation of IUCLID datasets for REACH. Her organizational skills, communication skills and knowledge of regulations aid the team in completing a large number of projects under short deadlines.
Ms. Dowlat graduated from the University of Toronto, with a B.Sc. (Honours) in Biochemistry.
